The 'Founder Rant' Format That Always Performs
3 min read
If there's a format that consistently overperforms for founders, it's the rant a short, sharp, opinionated take on something that genuinely frustrates you about your industry.
Why rants work
They have the three things the algorithm and audiences both reward:
- Energy. Frustration reads as conviction, and conviction holds attention.
- A clear point. A rant takes a side. There's no hedging, so there's no boring middle.
- Shareability. People share things they agree with (or love to argue with). Rants get shared.
How to do it without being reckless
The line between a good rant and a bad one is specificity. A good rant attacks an idea or a status quo, not a person. It's "here's what's broken and why," not "here's who's dumb."
Rules:
- Rant about systems, not people.
- Be right, or at least be reasoned. A take you can defend beats a take that's just loud.
- End with the better way. A rant that only complains is a complaint. A rant that points to a solution is content.
How to find your rants
You already have them they're the things you complain about in private. The extraction process surfaces them. You don't perform a rant; you let out a real one, structured for the feed.
The result
Rants are the format most likely to be your first breakthrough video. They're also the format most likely to define what you're known for. Use them pointedly.
